Chequered tiles are cemented tiles or terrazzo tiles with the center to center distance of chequered not less then 25 mm and not more than 50 mm, the grooves in the chequeres being uniformed and straight with a depth of grooves not less then 3 mm. These tiles are available in different arrangement of chequeres and in attractive colours.
CEMENT – Cement used in the manufacturing of chequered Tiles is ordinary cement conferming to IS: 81121976 (43 Grade OPC) or IS: 12269 – 1987 (43 Grade OPC)
Pigment: Colouring pigments provides attractive col;our to the chequered tiles. Only permitted and durable Colours are used in manufacture of chequered tiles. The colouring pigments used in wearing layers is restricted to 10% by mass of cement used.
Manufacturer: chequered cement concete tiles are manufactured from a mixture of cement, natural aggregate and coloring material by hydraulic pressure process. During manufacture, the tiles are subjected to a pressure not less than 14 N/ mm2. The proportion of cement to aggregate in the backing layer is maintained to 1:3 by mass.
Dimentions: The size of chequered tiles as specified in IS: 13801 – 1993 is as under:
LENGHTH | WIDTH | THICKNESS |
---|---|---|
200 mm | 250 mm | 300 mm |
200 mm | 250 mm | 300 mm |
22 mm | 22 mm | 25 mm |
Finish: The strict quality control measures are taken during the manufacture to maintain the uniform colour and texture of wearing layers throughout its thickness.
The cement concete flooring tiles are widely used in floors of official buldings, school, collages, residential building, footpaths, staircases etc. These tiles are generally classified in two classes depending on the duty they perform.
